Lechon Baka is Jeepney Winnipeg's modern Filipino take on an old Ilocano feast. We slow-roast whole beef brisket over hours with garlic, bay, and a blend of Filipino spices, basting continuously until the exterior caramelizes and the interior turns meltingly tender. Sliced to order and plated over a bed of Java rice — tinted golden with turmeric and butter — this is Filipino comfort food elevated to centrepiece status.
In September 2025, our Lechon Baka earned us the title of Best Restaurant at the Taste of Manitoba festival. One reviewer put it perfectly: "Where on earth did this food come from!!! A must try!!!" Served with a choice of Java rice or steamed rice plus sawsawan (dipping sauce) on the side, it's the centrepiece of many table orders and the first dish we point new guests toward.
