A uniquely Ilocano pastry — crispy orange-hued shell stuffed with a whole egg, Ilocos longganisa sausage, green papaya and bean sprouts. A fan favourite and signature snack.
Ilocos Empanada is one of the Philippines' most regional and distinctive dishes — instantly recognizable by its bright orange shell, tinted naturally with achuete (annatto). At Jeepney Winnipeg, we hand-stretch the rice-flour dough to paper-thin translucence, then fill it with savoury Ilocos longganisa (garlic sausage), a cracked whole egg, and shredded green papaya with bean sprouts before folding and deep-frying to order.
The result is a crackling, golden pocket with a molten, savoury centre — best eaten hot with a drizzle of spiced sugar-cane vinegar. Our Karaoke & Ilocos Empanada Nights on Friday evenings pair the dish with live entertainment, but you can order it any day of the week as a snack, starter, or party tray addition.

Former Ilocos Resident
“Couldn't find a proper Ilocos empanada anywhere in Canada until I walked into Jeepney. The shell is exactly right — thin, crisp, with that orange colour. Brings me home.”

“The empanada is massive and packed with filling. The egg inside is a genius touch. A must-try if you've never had Filipino food before.”
